Recently (early March 2020) stayed at Hummingbird, St James – an absolutely gorgeous property. It’s light, spacious and airy, beautifully modern inside, with a stylish and simple décor, yet on the outside feels like it’s retained its classic Caribbean charm. The wrap around garden gives a wonderful feeling of space. There’s plenty of shade for outdoor lunches in the heat, as well as plenty of areas for sunbathing, and a great area out of view for drying towels and bikinis. There’s a small pool for cooling off in, and that’s all that’s needed with the sea just a 3 minute walk away – making it ultra-easy to pop down to the beach for sunrise and sunset (and nip back again if you forget something!), and then home for a G&T and bar b q on the garden terrace. There are restaurants and bars within easy walking distance, and getting taxis is straightforward. We had a hire car which gave us masses of flexibility for exploring the island. St James’ is a gorgeous area, feels un-touristy, and is pretty central, making it easy to venture north, south, east or west and pop to the supermarket for provisions. Definitely looking forward to a return visit.

Spent a fantastic week at the Hummingbird in March with my wife and friends. Great location being quiet but only 3 minutes walk to Alleyns beach (the stretch around the Fairmount Hotel is described as one of the finest in Barbados), which easily allowed a quick dip before breakfast, and then a longer stay later during the day.
Lovely accommodation, the rooms are light and airy with air conditioning and ceiling fans to keep the heat out.
The outside space worked really well, the plunge pool came in handy to cool down whilst sitting outside waiting for the barbecue to do its stuff.
You must visit the famous Lone Star Restaurant, 3 minutes walk away, great food and a view to die for!
Highly recommend the place and already planning my next visit!

The Hummingbird is perfectly located, being a short (easy) walk away from one of the best beaches on the west coast and one the most popular restaurants (The Lonestar). With access to a beach club and a private pool you can choose to lounge in comfort either by the sea or in the glorious garden complete with hummingbirds. The house itself is both beautiful and practical with plenty of storage space and various spaces to relax. It also has one of the largest and most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. Our holiday was pure escapism from the UK winter. We would thoroughly recommend The Hummingbird - especially if you prefer to have the flexibility of having the option to make your own meals and enjoy the extra space a house has to offer.

For us, Hummingbird was the perfect house in the perfect location for our long-awaited beach holiday in Barbados after the ups and downs of the pandemic. The house is light, smart, and functional with a fabulous en-suite master bedroom and two good-sized additional bedrooms. We really enjoyed its understated simplicity which worked so well for us as a base as first-time Bajan holiday visitors. The house is well-equipped with an open-plan kitchen and living area and an outside bar and pool area that proved perfect for the post-beach beer or two! (Banks) Hummingbird has the bonus of being a five-minute walk from the wonderful Alleynes beach and a well-equipped beach club of which you have a membership, as well as the famous and a little pricey Lone Star Restaurant. We loved it all and the yellow buses and their sound systems! Highly recommended. *****

We had a wonderful stay at Hummingbird villa. The villa was fantastic - exactly what we were looking for. It's perfect for a young family like ours. The villa is clean, spacious and well equipped with everything we would need for an easy and comfortable stay. The access to the Fairmont Beach club was such a bonus! The support from the team was brilliant - communication was always prompt and having the villa and pool cleaned mid stay was a benefit. The location of villa is fantastic. Within easy reach of beautiful beaches and amenities. We hope to stay again one day.

Beautiful Villa in beautiful Barbados. We had a great stay in hummingbird villa. It was perfect for our group of six consisting of my wife and I, two young children and their grandparents. The pool and outside space was brilliant and we made good use of the bbq and local fresh fish market. The location is a short walk to a great beach and a few restaurants. Holetown is about a half an hour walk which has a large amount of shops and restaurants, it is fine for adults but not ideal for children in buggies so I would recommend a car, although taxis were fine and hummingbirds suggested driver is a great guy. Any questions we had Jameela was very responsive and even arranged for us to have a food shop in for our arrival which was so helpful.

I'm sitting here on the last night of our holiday, on the patio of your beautiful villa with a G&T in hand while the kids play in the pool.
I just wanted to say thank you for letting us stay here, myself, my cousin and our girls have had the best holiday.
We've had beautiful breakfasts at Lone Star, lunch at The Tides, dinner at the Fish Pot, drank mudslides while watching the sunset at JuJu's and ate burger king take out on the patio when we were just too shattered to do anything else.
The Catamaran trip was an excellent recommendation, the kids were fascinated by the fish and turtles, and myself and Emma thoroughly enjoyed a Rum punch or two!!
We really have had the most fantastic time, thank you again, we have definitely fallen in love with this island.

Each morning began with a walk along the beach and up on to the Hole Town road to collect croissants and a baguette from the French Bakery and bits and pieces from the small shop next door, on one of these trips we saw a nest of baby turtles making their first trip to the sea. Fantastic holiday and plan to come back to this well located, lovely house.
